How can i make a software (in C) for my term project which can convert bmp file to ocx file and ocx to bmp?

I want to learn the C language (no I don’t want to learn C++ because I need C for Objective-C and then for Cocoa) and I wonder if I should buy a book (a programming guide) or just take a free, online course. I’m not even talking about having to spend 50 bucks on a book, I’m just wondering if there’s really a difference between them. Which books / websites would you suggest? Thanks!

can someone explain the purpose of fopen, fscanf and free functions. and give a simple and short program using those functions. Thanks
