Best Programming Language

I’m interested in building software — nothing major yet, just small simple stuff for me. I have much much experience in PHP and JavaScript, but what other programming languages should I study? C++, etc?

Please help!

Im thinking about being a programmer later on in life (or a career close to that). Im taking Visual Basic in a class at school right now and I enjoy it alot. Im wondering what is the programming language I should learn next after Visual Basic (by myself, with books etc..) and why. Thanks again!

A fellow bartender and I are tired of using all the crappy touch screen programs out there in different bars and restaraunts and are looking into writing our own. We both have some computer programming experience but it’s been a few years for both of us. Any help on how to get started?

I took C programming in college and I want to try my hand at it again. Is there any software that will run a C program or programs in other languages? Also, is there any language that has become very popular since the early 1990s that would be even better to learn than C?

I am going to be starting back to college this summer to get a Bachelors in Computer Info Systems. I am 43 years old and I will be required to take one of the above mentioned program languages. Which one would be good for one of us older students to learn. I am leaning towards Java since my interest is in Web Development possibly.

I think the C is the best programming language and AVR is the best microcontroller..a good combination..what do you think?
