Python is easy, kool, and the best thing is that u can gain good programming habits and concepts with this language far more quickly than with most other languages .

Email me for details on Python if u would like to learn it …

    Good luck!

It depends what type of programs you want to make.

Xhtml, css sounds like web development. Are you trying to make web applications? If so, try Java, ActionScript (Adobe Flash), .Net (C#, ASP.net, etc.) PHP, Perl, Ruby, Python, etc.

If you want to make “real” applications, look into C, C++, Java, C#, etc.

Python. It uses a lot less of the obscure coding syntax, and makes sense from a new coder’s point of view.

It’s interpreted, not needing to spend time compiling, which is great for quick results when you’re just learnign coding in general.

I would start with C to learn the basic syntax used in C++ and Java. Then either C++ or Java.
